Our European vintage and antique wooden dough bowls or trogs are hand-hewn from whole split logs. They all feature remarkable handiwork and a beautiful patina. Some have small cracks, or minor repairs. They are great to use as centerpieces, or as hallway catch-alls. They are a handsome fireside accessory for holding logs, tools or magazines. These large examples were used in multi-family or small scale commercial baking as well as for washing clothes or even bathing the baby and were frequently used mounted on oak stands. This is a beautiful trog ,which sits very nicely in its oak stand. The stand has four straight legs with chamfered corners, splayed for stability.
The stand might not always have been paired with this bowl.
