Antique Bentwood Chair Model No. 18 from Thonet

This is a beautiful and original antique bentwood Thonet chair model no. 18 with a new matted seat. Chair no. 18, also called bistro chair, designed by Thonet, was one of Thonet’s most famous chairs, next to chair no. 14. They both have a half inner arc in the backrest. This chair was produced by the Austrian designer Josef Hoffmann, probably around 1900. This model is still produced but now as no. 218. This chair is still in good condition and it has a new hand-matted seat. It has normal signs of wear for its age and, as can be seen in the photos, it has had a repair that contributes to the beautiful patina that this chair has acquired.
